I’m not all that familiar with the most recent Eva O material; in fact, the only thing that I am familiar with is what she did with Christian Death. Definitely check out her web-site for more information regarding this Goth legend. evao.com
The Outcast: When did you decide to follow Christ and what made you change after all these years of following a different path?
Eva O: Well, I call it a miracle when this happens to anyone. Because, I think it takes a lot to give up on your worldly fantasies and follow Christ. This is something that you have to strive for daily. I decided because I saw real love for once, not feelings, but an unconditional love. We as humans can try and our feelings and pride just mess it all up. But through Christ is the only way we can give true love.
The Outcast: How do you know that this is the only path in life to walk to have a peaceful after life? What is your proof?
Eva O: I believe in God the father as our creator and Christ the son who is God in the flesh. He came to show that it is possible for man to live in purity. His Holy Spirit will be within us if we make room for him to live through us. I believe that I am going to have a peaceful afterlife. I believe that God will have mercy on my soul. I believe to live with the Creator for eternity would only be a grand benefit, for He created us and loves us. What makes you so sure? I would rather have a doctor mend my heart than a merchant.
The Outcast: What are you currently doing musically?
Eva O: I am about to release part one to my new CD Damnation "Ride the madness". Part two is Salvation "Are you ready to die". The first part is to be released in late May. For more info on my music and samples of my new CD go to www.evao.com.
The Outcast: Why do you think people go from one extreme to another? (Ex: Going from a Christian to a Satanist and vise- versa.)
Eva O: Maybe the same reason why people gradually make changes. It’s probably that people only notice the extreme and everything else just passes unnoticed.
The Outcast: What is your opinion on religion?
Eva O: People desire it. It is in our nature. If it is not a religion of God, it is of the world or other entities or people. We desire to worship.
The Outcast: Do you ever feel like a hypocrite?
Eva O: I am a hypocrite, a sinner, a liar, a thief, a hate monger and everything else you can think of. I am not of importance. I am a wretch.
The Outcast: Do you believe that evil can be used for good and good for evil?
Eva O: I think that we have pre-versed everything, our eyes are dim. God can make good of anything, and we have the ability to spoil good things.
The Outcast: What are your concerts like? Do you preach your beliefs at shows? What factors are involved whether or not you preach at a show?
Eva O: No, I think that it is not necessary to preach to people. People will do what they will. I have no power in their decisions and if I was to convince someone to accept my beliefs, it would be in vain. It has to be from their heart to the Lord. I can only work hard daily to walk with the Lord and ask for the ability to love people of all kinds. And accept them for who they are, just as Jesus does. We have a choice in life; choice is not something one from the outside can direct. My shows are aggressive and dramatic, that is all I could say about that.
The Outcast: How about friends? How have they accepted this change in your life?
Eva O: My friends respect me and I them.
The Outcast: What makes an individual a Christian? Define Christianity in your own words.
Eva O: To strive to live as Jesus Christ. Complete humility, love, and understanding. To deny your passions, mentally and physically. To take up his cross and endure the suffering. Too many people are scared to suffer, we want to be comfortable. Who says that suffering is a bad thing? It is a refining thing. To grow is to suffer.
The Outcast: Why do you think people deny God?
Eva O: It is too much of a responsibility to accept him, too much to give up. It is easier to deny him.
The Outcast: Do you think that by listening to band lyrics about death, destruction, hate, etc..., can influence someone’s state of mind? Maybe making their lives/moods/state of mind a bit negative because they’re exposed to it everyday if they’re heavily into a style of music that tends to talk about negative subjects?
Eva O: I think that listening and watching things of any type, including so called Christian music can hinder your faith. It should never be a daily thing, just necessities should be daily.
The Outcast: What are some of your favorite bands/influences?
Eva O: Influences: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Alice Cooper. Favorites: Liabach and Swans.
The Outcast: What’s one thing that you struggle with in life?
Eva O: Life.
The Outcast: Are all the members in your band a Christian? Would you ever consider having a non-Christian in your band? Why or why not?
Eva O: Yes, they are Christians, and no, I would not have non-Christians in my band. I have tried and it just doesn’t work. A band is like a marriage, we must have the same goals.
The Outcast: According to scripture, angels would often appear to people. Why do you think that doesn’t happen now?
Eva O: I think it does. I know it does.
The Outcast: Do you think that music can influence someone into hating Christianity?
Eva O: No.
The Outcast: Do you, or did you, find it difficult to change your old ways since you lived such an extreme life style opposite to how you live now?
Eva O: I think it is difficult, but not impossible. I am a human and we all have difficulties.
